The gameplay dynamic of Kingdom Under Fire II is interesting in the sense that the real time strategic elements are fully integrated into the action role playing game portion of the game. The game will look at the dynamics of a three way war between the Human Alliance, the Dark Legion and the Encablossians, a new species introduced to the game as inhabitants of Bersia, a continent from the previous games antagonist’s home dimension. KUFII continues the story of the games universe, being set 150 years after Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders. StoryĪs we mentioned above, Kingdom Under Fire II is the fifth game in the series and follows on chronologically from Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, set in the antagonists alternative dimension of Encablossa. Given these vague release times, gamers and media members alike remain sceptical of the games release. Whereas the PlayStation 4 build of the game is set to launch at some point in Q3-Q4 of 2014. The release dates have been set as Korea, Malaysia and South East Asia at some time in Q1-Q2 of 2014 and Q2-Q3 in the west. Kingdom Under Fire II entered open beta in May 22nd of 2014. Further delays followed with the announcement of the PlayStation 4 build of the game which pushed the release schedule back yet again with the current status of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation being unofficially commented on. Both of which were slated for a 2012 release date with no specific time window given. The game remained in development hell for quite some time with departing staff members forming their own development studios, this was blamed for the games delay, stating that the departing staff left them undermanned and lacking the required manpower.Īfter numerous delays, the game was set to launch around holiday 2011, but in November of the same year, a PlayStation 3 build was announced to be in development which all but confirmed the further delay of the Xbox 360 build. In 2010, Blueside encountered financial problems that resulted in the staff on the development team partially leaving with many others not receiving due payment for their work. This was reported on by Eurogamer in 2009 when the developer said,”Kingdom Under Fire II for Xbox 360 will differentiate itself from the PC Online version in that there will be more focus on the single-player aspect as for players to unveil the secrecy of Bersian history as putting themselves on shoes of heroes and reunite the scattered nations in deep and rich storyline,” There was also DLC planned to release alongside it, but the game was never said to be an MMORTS. However, Blueside, one of the co-developers, confirmed that an Xbox 360 build was in development and that it would feature a more single player orientated campaign and an online multiplayer mode. As it furthered into development the game was hit by a delay, changes in the platforms that it was intended to release on and actual gameplay changes following player feedback that was gathered from a Beta test which was run in December 2011. The development of Kingdom Under Fire II has been somewhat troubled. The game was set to retain all of its touted features, including the massively multiplayer online core and the action real time strategy portions. But, I am liking it so far and am enjoying my return to Bersia after 11 years! Check out Kingdom Under Fire 2 for yourself on its official webpage. The game initially began its development cycle some time before 2008 when it was officially announced to be released on the PC and multiple home consoles in 2009. I enjoy the realtime combat and hopefully, soon I will see the RTS aspects come into play. I am pleased that the game has drawn me into its world as I usually have trouble with MMO style games. hopefully I won’t have to progress much further to start unlocking my commandable units as the RTS aspect of Kingdom Under Fire has always been my favorite to mess around with! unfortunately, the village is under attack so that didn’t really work out for them. I have killed a bunch of spiders and kobold to help lead refuges to a new village. I have only played about 45 minutes so far and the game is more MMORPG than RTS at this point. Combat has felt great so far and is simple enough to get a hold of. Blocking and dodging are also available to keep your HP high. As a Ranger, I could also swap to long-range fighting at any point. As expected there were normal and special attacks to employ. After the video, I was thrown right into the fight and got to get acquainted with my hero’s combat abilities. Immediately I was greeted with a cutscene giving an overview of the world I now found myself in. After creating my Ranger and hopping into the tutorial I wasn’t sure what to expect.
